Geebung Real Estate
Geebung is a suburb of Northern Brisbane, Australia approximately 12km North of the Brisbane CBD. It is centred on its railway station on the Caboolture railway line with mainly industrial to the North of the line and residential dwellings to the South.
The suburb is named after the Geebung tree of the genus Persoonia which used to be known as the Geebong. The name change came about due to handwritten addresses on letters being incorrectly sent to Geelong.
The 2016 Estimated Resident Population for Geebung is 3,749, with a population density of 9.36 persons per hectare.
Settlement of the area dates from the 1860s, when a brick factory was established. Growth took place from the 1880s, following the construction of a railway line. Expansion continued during the interwar and post-war years. The population declined marginally during the 1990s, and then was relatively stable between 2001 and 2006, a result of little change in dwelling stock.
Fossils found in 2013 during the construction of the Robinson Road overpass will hopefully help fill the knowledge gap about what happened after the dinosaurs and before the era of Australia’s mega-fauna approximately 50 million years ago when the area was a swampland or freshwater lake.
